500 Mushroom circles

… Trip made 510 circles on mushroom. Please note that this competition is designed to push athletes to their mental and physical limits, not emphasize on perfect technique.

I’ve never heard of more than 200 circles! This is an astonishing feat.

But I fear for his wrists when he gets older. Most male gymnasts suffer overuse pain. Trip should retired undefeated after this set. Never do more than 40 circles in future.

Thanks Darren.

  1. This is actually something they do in the UK on a regular basis, regular on this kinda sets being once a month or so. But they are also doing pommel workouts that may include up to 600-1000 circles a workout every week and they have very low frequency of wrist pains. Progressions seems to be the keyword here, since when they started adding volume their wrist pains actually “disappeared”…

    1. Thanks Ville.

I’ve heard the same thing. But it makes no sense.

Wondering if working huge numbers of circles simply weeds out those those young boys born with wrists that cannot survive the training?

Cameron MacKenzie – for example – trained with Keatings, Smith, etc. at Huntington and was very good at Pommels at a young age. After he grew Pommels became a weak apparatus.

I wish we had some scientific research on wrist pain.
