Marian Dragalescu is back

And has already earned a personal invitation to compete at the Rio Olympics. 🙂

A man ahead of his time on Vault, Dragulescu pioneered the jump that bears his name (two front flips with a half twist) in 1999, and it helped him win four World titles on the event (2001, 2005, 2006 and 2009). Though he stuck his signature skill in event finals at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, he was never as consistent with his second vault, and had to settle for less than gold both times.

While the Dragulescu is still considered among the most difficult in the world, Dragulescu knows that he may need to do even more if he wants to land on the Olympic podium next summer in Rio. …

goal – no racism in sport

There are not many coaches left who feel gymnasts with African heritage – who get a chance to train gymnastics – are at a disadvantage. 🙂

Sport is an environment where EVERYONE should have an equal chance for success.

Right now a VIDEO on racism at the University of Alabama is being shared online. Fraternities and sororities are still a problem.

I’ve not heard anyone complain about racism on the University of Alabama Gymnastics team.

Wilbur Jackson was the first black football player signed by the University of Alabama 1970 by Bear Bryant. That worked out pretty well for the legendary coach.

Though the former slave States are ASSumed to be the most racist it turns out that’s not true based on one study.

racist States

Coaches can take pride in the fact that we help break down societal barriers.

trampoline Vault boards

I’ve been reluctant to use trampoline Boards very often fearing they are too slow. But more and more coaches are using them. So far, so good.
