World Championships 2018 Qatar

Aspire Dome will host the 2018 World Championships in October. (A good month in so far as weather is concerned.) It’s the largest indoor sport centre in the world, currently being expanded another 40%. I toured it the other day.

I’m confident Qatar will do a super job. Despite having a population of only about 2 million, the Federation is very organized, very well funded. The venue is fantastic.

Aspire

The Aspire Zone Foundation, also known as Doha Sports City is a 250-hectare (2.5 square kilometers) sporting complex located in … Doha, Qatar. Here’s one positive new idea.

The U.S. Olympic Committee has once again begun the process of trying to confront the prospect of NCAA Division I schools dropping sports for financial reasons.

But this time, instead of forming a committee or just talking about the issue, the USOC is seeking applicants for a new job: director of collegiate partnerships. The position will entail, among other tasks, working with national sports governing bodies and the NCAA “to develop actionable plans to reduce expenses associated with sponsoring sports” while maintaining quality experiences for college athletes …

Fabian – H Bar release series

Team Germany has not year qualified for Rio. They’ll have a second chance at the Olympic Test meet in April. It would be a real shame if Fabian was not in Rio for the BIG show.
