Yul Moldauer – Rings

15.100 (5.7, 9.400)

Very clean. But not one of the best Rings routines in the world.

  1. nothing against Yul personally, but this “routine” is an obvious example about everything that’s wrong with contemporary gymnastics (as I state in the Jan/Feb IG OpEd piece)…..it doesn’t even attempt to be some sort of routine, it’s just a bunch of random skills bunched together….
mount: pull inverted hang (no value)
pike (valueless change of direction) cast to skill
a lower to “skin the cat” hang to

am I the only person out here who hates the kind of hobble-cobbled together gobbledygook that the current CoP permits?

Steve (Butcher), you and the FIG-MTC need to address this!!!

  2. I have to agree Jim. Although there are much worse routines than this one. Some have a stop and change of direction after every skill. I don’t really mind them going to dorsal hang, but they should at least make a transition out of it rather than just stopping in inverted hang every time. Maybe limit the number of inverted hangs and prevent unnecessary changes of direction.
