… In my time here in Michigan, I have learned many life lessons.
The first of many includes learning to ask for help. I am a very independent and self-sufficient person by nature, so it is hard for me to reach out and rely on other people for assistance. It took me time to understand that asking for help is okay and not a weakness. Learning to rely on my teammates and other staff for support was a great lesson that I learned to embrace. I will take that with me for the rest of my life.
I have grown to become more open and outgoing when it comes to meeting people and listening to other perspectives that may not match my own. I have grown to understand that people come from very different backgrounds and may not see things the same way that I do, so I have grown to be a better listener than I was before college.
Maximizing time during the day has been another way I have learned to live as a person, student and athlete. …
