vault values in the FIG Code of Points

Just checked the most recent edition. I downloaded it free from the FIG website. On page 48:

Handspring Vault for Women = 2.40
Hanspring 1/1 Vault for Women = 3.20

Sounds good to me. This provides some incentive to do the more interesting vault

What are the values for those vaults where you live? (leave a comment)

Tsukahara tucked is 4.00, for comparison.

gymnastics video – introducing the Kip

The most detailed tutorial I’ve yet seen on introducing the most difficult-to-learn skill in Women’s gymnastics.

The purpose of this video is to demonstrate a step-by-step process for teaching kips, starting with absolute beginners and moving up to girls who are trying to compete level 5. It shows the drills and conditioning I have learned from successful and effective coaches.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube. (9min)

I’ll post the second video in this series tomorrow.

Cirque and Reebok trapeze conditioning

An interesting campaign was launched for Reebok women’s sports.

They’ve partnered with Cirque to promote an interesting fitness program for the general public.

JUKARI Fit to Fly – a new gym experience from Reebok and Cirque du Soleil. Try it – you’ll flex and flutter, sweat and stretch, and swing from a FlySet. It’s all about moving your body in a fun new way.

How many trapeze studios have been built so far, I wonder.

Instead of using circus flyers, Reebok is promoting the concept with “normal” people and pretty models.

The Korean men took two titles with Kim Soo Myun winning floor exercise and Kim Ji Hoon first on high bar.

Hungary’s Krisztian Berki interrupted the Asian domination in Belgrade by winning the pommel horse title. The European men earned the next three titles as well: Russia’s Alexander Balandin (still rings), Romania’s Flavius Koczi (vault) and France’s Cyril Tommasonne on parallel bars.
