THE ALL AROUND:

Cancun will host the 79th FIG Congress from October 25-27. This Congress, among other things, will elect the new FIG President, and members of the Executive and Technical Committees.

For the first time in several years the current FIG President, Bruno Grandi, will run opposed in the figures of Adrian Stoica (ROU) and Vassily Titov (RUS). …

So far as I can see, the incumbent is the favourite.

Stoica & Titov may simply be positioning themselves for the following election.

gymnastics video work flow?

I spent a couple of days last week shooting video with a pro, Chris Hutchinson, from Tumbl Trak. And learned a lot.

Chris gave me advice on how to set up my own system for capturing, editing and storing video clips.

Here’s my first DRAFT sketch up …

If you have any advice, leave a comment on this post. Or over on my personal blog where I’ve posted my equipment and specific details.

And who’s first on YouTube to show a single air flare?

Morgan Hamm was the first Artistic gymnast I saw do it in competition.

related – petition on Change.org asking that USAG “credit” the invention of two air flares in series to Pablo.

I’m happy to credit him. But didn’t sign the petition as it makes no sense. Naming conventions in Artistic Gymnastics (FIG and/or USAG JO) normally have no relation to what similar skills are named in other sports: snowboard, skateboard, tricking, dance, etc.
