Douglas
Wieber
Raisman
Ross
Maroney

1st Replacement athletes — unranked, we think: Price, Li and Finnegan.
No room for Alicia with Maroney as the VAULT Olympic Champion in waiting. I’m going to miss her. 😦
USA Trials Final:
1.Gabrielle Douglas 123.450
2.Jordyn Wieber 123.350
3.Aly Raisman 120.950
4.Elizabeth Price 120.100
5.Kyla Ross 118.500
6.Sarah Finnegan 117.650
7.Mckayla Maroney 117.650
8.Kennedy Baker 114.700
Scores were embarrassingly high. (Who’s supervising these ladies?)
The gymnastics was excellent the final day of Trials. Congratulations to everyone involved in the elite women’s program in the USA. You’ve the #1 nation in the world in my opinion. 🙂
Jordyn and Gabby make a great 1-2 punch.
Which other 4 will be named?
Price? Maroney? Sacramone? Li? Finnegan?
And which will be #5 and official “replacement” gymnast?
… tough call.
I’m still taking Price.
In the end, anyone in the top 8 MIGHT end up competing in London. Marta will be quick to pull anyone who looks inconsistent in training.

The women of Team USA looks very intimidating to the rest of the world.
What’s the response in Russia?
Rewriting Russian Gymnastics:
Media coverage of interviews with Viktoria Komova, Alexei Nemov and Valentina Rodionenko provides a slightly varying account of the Russian team’s medal expectations in London which I will attempt to moderate here. Rodionenko announces clearly that the original training plan written in 2009 targetted two golds, two silver and two bronze medals, focussing mainly on the hopes of the women’s team.
The various individuals considered as medal contenders are :
Viktoria Komova – bars and beam
Aliya Mustafina – bars
Anastasia Grishina – bars
Ksenia Afanasyeva – floor. …read the details – Russia’s plan – aim for two golds, two silvers, two bronzes
Canada’s a Trampoline Superpower.

Canada has won 5 Olympic medals since the sport was introduced in 2000. China has won 4. Russia 3.
Good luck in London!
