Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

I love it. 🙂

Lloimincia Hall capped a record night with a 10.0 on floor in the final performance of the night as No. 3 LSU disposed of seventh-ranked Alabama, 197.650-196.825, in front of 8,055 fans, the second-largest crowd in school history, Friday night in the Maravich Center.

LSU (3-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) posted the fifth-highest team score in school history with a 197.650 with a 49.575 on vault, 49.400 on bars, 49.125 on beam and 49.550 on floor.

glimmer of hope for Temple

PHILADELPHIA – January 28, 2014 (WPVI) — Coaches and students at Temple University got to state their case … to try to save their team. A closed door meeting was held to discuss the university’s decision to cut several varsity sports. …

Temple President Neil Theobald said this is not something he wanted to do, but they are simply so overextended.

“I certainly will consider everything that was said today. I did hear some new information that I hadn’t heard before,” Theobald admitted. “And we will come back to the board with our consideration of everything that was said today and see we’re open to all ideas.”

I was at a South Africa training camp this weekend with Jesse Kitzen-Abelson, MAG Coach at Pinetown Gymnastics. Jesse was a two-year co-captain for Temple, graduating 2011.

Would Jesse be a coach today if the Temple program had not existed?

psyched

… The coach stood there and stared at me. And then it hit me. And I left like an idiot. I was pushing and pushing my daughter to do something that I actually thought was scary and insane. I wouldn’t get up on the high dive, but I was screaming at my daughter and in the meantime I was ruining my relationship with her because I wanted to be special. I wanted to be supermom. I didn’t realize nor care that my daughter just wanted to have fun. She had no intention of competing in diving.

I looked at the coach, smiled, and said “Well played coach, well played.”

Greg Marsden 1000 career wins

Congratulations to one of the good guys.

Utah gymnastics coach Greg Marsden earned his milestone 1,000th win on Saturday, with his fourth-ranked Utes taking down the No. 19 Arizona State Sun Devils at Wells Fargo Arena. …

For the first time since the opener, the Utes didn’t have to count a fall on the balance beam, allowing them to earn their best score of the season.

“That made me happier than anything else,” he said. …

He was hired in 1976 to establish a team so the Utes could meet Title IX requirements. Under his guidance, the program became one of the most successful women’s sports in the country, winning 10 national titles and becoming the only team to qualify for all 32 NCAA championships.

Florida defeats Oklahoma

Final Score: Florida 197.875, Oklahoma 197.225

A really strong meet from both teams overall.

There weren’t really any problems except for the one fall for Oklahoma on beam. All things taken into account, this was a stronger meet for Florida than last week’s I think. There were places of high scoring throughout as we would expect, but nothing that went too too crazy this time. On floor, the score was a 49.575 for a performance that was probably mostly equivalent to last week’s. …

As for Kytra’s 10, I doubt we’ll hear much argument because it was better than last week’s 10. Sloan’s routine was probably about the same as last week’s. …

Florida’s now drawing big crowds. They left happy after this one.

Freshman Silvia Colussi-Pelaez did Bars & Beam exhibition routines. She’ll be in the Bars line-up for most of her career as a Gator, I predict. It takes some time to switch from FIG to College routines.
