Isabella Brett not approved for Paris

As we feared, New Zealand was too shortsighted to approve Isabella who earned Olympic qualification at the continental championship.

One more Olympian from a small nation makes a BIG difference to the sport there. Inspiring children. Improving public fitness. A good investment.

I coached a year in New Zealand and am very disappointed.

Brett Ince – GBR Women’s Olympic Coach

Brett Ince, Head of Elite Programme at Park Wrekin, has been named as the coach for the GB Women’s Team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

I know it has been Alice’s dream to go to the Olympics with Brett as the coach and they have both worked tirelessly towards this goal.

Fred Richard – remember the name

If you’re looking for Frederick Richard on the University of Michigan’s campus, the odds are pretty good that you’ll find him at the Newt Loken Training Center. That’s where he spends most of his time these days.

Inside the walls of the chalk-filled training gym, Richard starts his day at 10 a.m. with physical therapy, followed by yoga – to keep his flexibility on point, of course. Then he heads to practice with his Michigan teammates for the next four hours, followed by one or two hours of social media content planning and filming. …

Following the Olympics, Richard will join four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and a star-studded cast on a 30-city tour designed to celebrate the sport of gymnastics. 

It all helps Richard’s mission to make men’s gymnastics relevant in a country where the women have garnered much of the attention for decades. …

U.S. gymnasts competing Olympics for other nations

You probably recall the disaster that was Nellie Kim, President of the FIG Women’s Technical Committee, pushing for American Kylie Dickson to compete for Belarus in Rio.

It was one of Nellie Kim’s many ethical disasters.

But I’d argue that — more often than not — having a gymnast from a bigger nation represent a smaller nation DOES help Gymnastics there. For example, I fully expect WAG to boom over the next couple of Olympic cycles in Philippines.
