Not the best “set” you’ve ever seen.

Shawna – Can-Am Gymnastics
But many, many gymnasts go through something like this position.
Each time I see this phase of the skill it reminds me to do more specific conditioning for lateral flexion, with rotation.

The premeet favourite from China came through with a strong win. New new code rules count only the top 8 skills for Difficulty. Rawles clarified that this meet was judged under old code (10 skills).

One of our acrotumblers tried this crazy skill the other day.
He under rotated to prone fall.
Perhaps only two female artistic gymnasts have ever competed it.

=== UPDATE:
From George Novak:
Alexis did it in a pike position. I think she might be the only one that can make that claim. Certainly one of the biggest if not the biggest backward tumbling skill ever performed in competition on floor by a female gymnast. I have some old videos of her at home somewhere accidentally pulling off some pretty impressive triple full-ins into the pit while learning it (getting lost LOL), aged about 10.
It’s snowing in Canada.
But some of my Canadian friends are in the sunny isles right now.

As expected, the Chinese girls (featured in this post) won the team competition, thanks mostly to a stellar performance on beam, where their lowest score was an astonishing 14.90 (a very high score, given that it was based on eight rather than ten elements). The highest score of the day went to Tan Sixin, who scored a staggering 15.85 on beam …

The most recent MostepanovaFan Code video. So new that it includes the new rating for double back on Floor (D) rather than the former rating (C). … Good call on that, by the way, FIG.
