I feel each sporting organization should set their own qualification rules.
Transgender athletes should have equal rights to participate. But they might be added to the male or female competitions, depending on the sport.
In coed sports where men and women compete directly against one another, it wouldn’t matter.
Certainly politicians are the worst possible people to decide sport qualification rules. Rather than look at what’s fair, they’ll politicize the issue.
All kinds of right wing politicians worldwide have never met a transgender person, but find they can get hateful people to vote for them if they take a stance against.

It the “Historically unimportant athletes” that are in the most danger as they have no legions of followers to complain to when their locker room, changing room, and showers have male athletes in them.

Good point. But in THIS case, the unimportant athlete (compared to Simone) is amplifying the right wing anti-trans message for political reasons. At least, in my opinion. For most of us, problems with transgender people are not in the top 1000 issues of our lives. She’s a troll.
