It also says that all coaches, judges and officials hold Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.

It states: “Coaches, judges and officials hold Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosures, administrated through British Gymnastics.

“We also follow the British Gymnastics Safeguarding & Protecting People policy to meet our duty of care towards young people.”

British Gymnastics said a full background check was not required because of … voluntary status. …

  1. I don’t know what rules Canadian gyms follow, but our church requires criminal record, welfare and vulnerable persons’ checks yearly for all staff and volunteers. In addition, as a volunteer, I must supply 3 written references upon first applying to volunteer with children, even to volunteer once per month. These are followed up with phone interviews of the references and an in person interview with the potential volunteer.     1. Excellent. Honestly I’m not sure if volunteers are required to do background checks in Canada.

      My guess is that they are … but that the rules are inconsistently enforced.
