After defecting from Cuba in 2003, Tamayo began his coaching career in the United States. From 2004 through 2016, he served as the head coach of elite youth programs in California and Colorado, as well as the VIP and director of the Woodward West Gymnastics Camp from 2006 to 2007. Most recently, Tamayo was the head coach of the West Coast Elite Gymnastics women’s team in Arcadia, California. …

  1. Rick, I think it’s a great move for Navy, Charlie is a stand-up guy, but correct me if I’m wrong but I believe he is a World medalist and didn’t win a world championship?

    1. His highest achievement at Worlds was apparatus Bronze.

      I assume the non-Gymnastics writer of that post meant a Gold Medal at a World Cup meet. Perhaps Cottbus 2002.
