The dancing in this music video is great, however, given that the video is being promoted as a tribute to the Orlando shooting (not by Sia but by external outlets do due the clear references in the video), I wanted to point out how that ignores a huge aspect of the Orlando shooting. The Orlando shooting happened on Latin American night and was targeted at people of color. However, this is not displayed in the video through the dancers that were selected – especially through the primary dance (Maddie Ziegler). One can assume based on previous music videos that Maddie is meant to represent Sia. However, having Sia bring herself into a music video meant to pay tribute to gay men of color (particularly Latin American gay men) feels slightly ill taste to me. That is just my perspective!
