The King City, Ont., trampolinist finished the competition Friday with a total score of 157.295, well clear of silver-medallist Samatha Smith’s 150.310. Samantha Sendel finished bronze with a total score of 150.245.
MacLennan is the reigning Olympic champion and was the only Canadian to strike gold at the 2012 London Games. She will again compete for Canada at the upcoming Games in Rio de Janeiro. She also won gold at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto and was the 2013 world champion in individual competition.
Jason Burnett, the 2008 Olympic silver medallist, won the men’s competition with a total score of 161.375 while upcoming star Trevor Stirling finished second with 157.425. Keegan Soehn was third. …
