Nigeria missed African Championships

The President of the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria, Folusho Adefemi, has said that lack of funds was responsible for Nigeria’s inability to participate at the last African Gymnastics Championship in South Africa.

Nigeria had qualified for the competition, which was held from March 27 to 30, but had failed to participate in any of the over 20 categories of events at the competition.

Adefemi said, “It was not as if we don’t want to go to South Africa, it is because we have no fund available, that’s why we couldn’t go to that competition.” …

Gymnastics laments poor funding

On the other hand, I was proud to see the guys from Senegal. A very well organized Federation, they found a way. For only the second time in history.

Nigeria is a rich nation, richer than South Africa by some measures. There is money in Nigeria. It’s not being used to support Gymnastics.😦
