Publisher Chris Korotky is in Vegas supposedly
researching an article for the next edition of Inside Gymnastics.
Sounds like a pretty sweet gig. He was at Elvis last night. Michael Jackson IMMORTAL tonight.

November 20th, 2011 — Circus
It seems Cirque keeps opening shows, but never closing any. They are closing Tokyo Disney, I’m sad to say.
… Since its opening on 1 October 2008, Cirque du Soleil “ZED” has continued with encouraging audience support. But as of Saturday, 31 December 2011, the production will come to an end.

I saw the excellent show after Worlds. And went backstage. Many are disappointed and upset to be winding down. It’s definitely one of the most popular shows within the company.
Some acts are being moved to existing shows. (I heard the excellent double trapeze troupe is going to Mystere.)
… Part of the problem was the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The show was black March 11 through April 20th. Special netting was brought in to protect artists in case of aftershocks during performance.
Zed was the first show to reach its one-millionth guest faster than any show in Japan, and did see great success with over 1,000 performances …
In fact, ticket sales boomed … right after the announced closing.
November 16th, 2011 — Circus, Gymnastics, Olympics
I’m at the Henderson Cup 2011 National Gymnastics Championships, hosted for the first time in Hong Kong. Competition begins today for 90+ Sr men and 50+ Sr women. The Worlds Teams from Tokyo are not here, still in recovery mode from that peak meet.
That gives an opportunity for the best of the rest to shine.

You might be able to watch some LIVE coverage online on Nov. 20th, Hong Kong time:
… 2-hour live broadcast will also be broadcast in real time, on-line, so that people can have more ways to enjoy this wonderful event. Visitors can log in from anywhere via the Internet to watch event …
Internet in Hong Kong is not restricted as it is in the mainland. In fact, it was very difficult for China to host the meet in Hong Kong as much cost and paperwork was required to bring everyone over.
Under the principle of “one country, two systems“, Hong Kong still has a different political system …
A guest of Cirque du Soleil’s Jun Chen, I don’t have a media credential, but I’ll still try to get stories out as best I can.
Leave a comment if you are following the meet elsewhere, on Chinese blogs perhaps.
