Is your gym this fine?
Click PLAY or see the facility on YouTube.
Stjarnan Gymnastics House is in Garðabær, a suburb of Reykjavík.
Thanks Niclaes Jerkeholt for posting that video.
I also stopped by the new Akureyri Gymnastics facility in the north of the island.
They were just installing all new Gymnova equipment.

There are a number of world class gyms in Iceland.

Is that shiny floor surrounding all the equipment matting concrete? If so they need to look at the Australian report about concrete flooring and equipment. I wouldn’t feel confident that you couldn’t fly off the tumble run or tramp onto concrete there.
I am having some problems at the moment trying to find a way to fit more Artistic gymnastics equipment into our gym. (We also have Trupp or ‘group’ gymnastics here in sweden) arranging a gym is always a challenge and I was just thinking how awesome it would be if there was some kind of computer programme where you could test out different equipment in the size of hall you specify.
Do you know if any such thing exists? I am thinking about drawing the equipment on the computer and then draging it around to see if it works but it would all have to be to scale…
any ideas?
Yes, it does exist : http://www.gymnova.com/fr/tools3d/
Thats an advantage of their being fewer training centers, they can plan and build some great ones. Kind of sad not to see any men’s equipment.
Actually, the tradition of men’s gymnastics is strong in Iceland. They had an Olympian in 2004. But, as usual, there are far more female gymnasts, than male.
