Just checking out a new system of women’s gymnastics handguards from a company called Panfilof and Daughters.
… a new fastening system—ratchet buckles. This system is more convenient to use than the grips with Velcro or the grips with regular buckles. The ratchet buckle grips are fast and easy to tighten exactly as needed. Ratchet buckles prohibit spontaneous opening of the bracelet. …Narrow grips have neoprene fasteners on the tongues of the finger holds which makes it possible to regulate the size of the finger holes by moving it inside or outside.
The company, out of Eugene, Oregon, touts many celebrity endorsements, including WOGA coaches.
If you’ve seen or used these grips, and have an opinion, post a comment. They also sell “wristbands” and “bracelets“.

I’m always excited by equipment advancements.
I’d be a little leary by the amount of pressure that can be exerted on the wrist area by these “inventions”.
We have already witnessed cases where gymnasts are asking coaches to tighten their grips and I have seen them being cinched as hard as the coach can muster. Is that much pressure harmful short or long term or do we even know? If the athlete is allowed to tighten themselves they are probably never in a position to overtighten to the point of damaging anything. This way I’m just not sure
I had one girl last year like that, George. No matter how much I cinched her buckle grips, she wanted them tighter. … But only for competition and mock meets.
I was that gymnast who always had to tighten my grips as hard as possible but the problem was the leather would stretch (i had buckle grips) and the wholes would get too big, I would replace my grips every few months!!! Some of my athletes use velcro but I dont trust it much, I make them wear elastics also but that isn’t a sure bet either.
I have always wondered if there was anything better out there, I would like to here was gymnasts and coaches think of these new grips!
Guys my students already using this grips for a second season. I like the buckles system, very easy to use, comfortable and safe. I am suggesting to try them.
