The team event of the 2013 Australian Nationals Championships was our first opportunity to view the next generation of Australian gymnasts and those who might represent us at the upcoming World Championships.

It was a shaky start to say the least.

The Victorians in both the senior and junior events unsurprisingly dominated the team competition– although primary focus was on the individual performances. Although the AA title will be based solely on Sunday night’s performances, Victorian State Champion Georgia-Rose Brown lead the field by just over a point from Maddie Leydin, with Queenslander Georgia Godwin in third. It was a tough night for all involved with nearly every competitor counting a fall and many counting multiple falls on a single apparatus. …

Alexandrov prepares Brazil for Olympics

RIO – Early on Friday, the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) presented the new coach of the Brazilian women’s artistic gymnastics. … the Russian Alexander Alexandrov

Anna Dementyeva’s good (but over-scored) Beam is now up to 4th highest scoring this quadrennial.

Elizabeth Stranahan on College Gym

Elizabeth Stranahan competed for Iowa State University from 2010-2013.

Initially a walk-on, Stranahan earned a full scholarship for her junior and senior seasons. She went from competing only floor her freshman season to competing all four events and earning the team’s highest all around score in the 2013 season. Stranahan also served as team co-captain her junior and senior year.

Stranahan currently attends graduate school at Iowa State where she pursues a Master’s degree in English.
