Gymneo – Flyaway

Here’s the latest teaser from Gymneo.TV out of France.

As a Canadian, I MUST be perfectly bilingual. 🙂

But I sure wish these awesome gymnastics coaching tutorials were sold with subtitles in other languages. Hint hint.

Awesome graphics.

That said — these videos reveal a fatal flaw.

IMHO no flyaway drill should ever have the feet come within 1 metre (1 yard) of the rail. That’s goal #1 for me while teaching the skill.

This skill requires no strength, no flexibility. Critical is psychology. Confidence is everything.

This demonstrator is not confident to keep her feet stretched. And we know why.

Laurie Hernandez 57.80

Gymnastike:

Junior elite Laurie Hernandez of MG Elite dominated competition today at the National Elite Qualifier at Parkettes Gymnastics in Allentown, PA.

… Hernandez posted the top all around score of the day for any age division with a very impressive 57.80.

Hernandez scored in the 14’s on every event highlighted by a 14.650 on beam and and 14.550’s on both vault and uneven bars. She won every event but vault where her teammate and first year elite Arianna Agrapides won with a stunning 15.150, the highest score of the day on any event. …

I’m thinking that’s going to be a very popular tumbling pass this Quad. The best will front 1/2 out as many of the guys are doing now.

Indian Gymnastics NEW coach

Times of India June 3, 2013:

The quest for a foreign coach for Indian gymnastics has finally made some headway with two candidates submitting their applications for the top post to the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

“The process has already started. We have received two applications for the coaching job. We are evaluating their resumes. At this point, I can’t tell you the names but country’s gymnasts will soon have a foreign coach,” SAI DG Jiji Thomson said. …

Two factions in India have been battling for recognition by FIG.

… The infighting led to gymnasts participating in two separate senior nationals at Allahabad and Rai and missing four World Cups last year. …

Ashish Kumar and the rest of the best in India are still training for Commonwealth Games 2014 despite the many months of trouble in India.
