Legendre – FX landings
If you put all the best gymnasts in the world in one gym and asked them to name the guy with the most difficult tumbling, the majority would point at Steven Legendre.
The knock on Steve is that he cannot stick landings like an Uchimra … and others who rely mostly on twisting to get a high start value.
Day 1 Championships were the best landings I can recall.

With the conclusion of the Russian Cup, Team Russia is confirming that three of the four places on this year’s World Team have been filled, with the fourth to be determined much later.
Two of them — Ksenia Afanasyev and Aliya Mustafina — were already known, but the third member — Tatiana Nabieva — earned her spot after dominating the competition this week in Penza. The return of the two-time World Team member (2010 and 2011) to a Russian “A-Team” has been anxiously anticipated by fans for a while now.

FIG – single point of failure
Yet another piece of FIG approved equipment fell in competition, this time in Iceland.

This is a serious and obvious design flaw in FIG approved Bars, Rings and Horizontal Bar.
Earlier in 2013, another Gymnova H Bar fell over a pit in Iceland.

Any engineer can tell you that any structure that can fall due to a single point of failure is badly designed. If only one equipment manufacturer came up with a design that could not fall if one anchor failed, FIG would make it the new standard.
Why does the FIG not require a double tie down system?
