HambΓΌchen is awesome

Fabian had a fantastic competition hitting 6/6.

I don’t believe I’ve seen a guy this happy to come 8th. He was hugging everyone in sight. This was an extraordinary Individual World Finals.

Japan proud tonight

GOLD – Kohei Uchimura (JPN) – 91.965
SILVER – Max Whitlock (GBR) – 90.473
BRONZE – Yusuke Tanaka (JPN) – 90.449

Last year Uchimura was first, Kato second.

Mama Uchimura was so excited.

what’s so GREAT about Kohei?

#FIGWorlds2014ART MAG AA

Is he really as good as all the hype.

Click PLAY or watch his Floor on YouTube.

I’d call that a HIT and a STICK.

top 8 at Worlds

The top 8 are invited to compete the World Cup circuit. What an incredible lineup this year.

At the post-meet Press Conference Max thanked Nile Wilson and wished him well in the H Bar final. In typical charming British understated words.

A deserving silver medalist.

Kohei wins #5

All hail. In a super tough competition Kohei walks away with his record breaking 5th consecutive World Championships title. He HIT and STUCK nearly every skill. Then at the Press Conference, said he would try to improve his landings on P Bar and H Bar. Next time. πŸ™‚

the Bretschneider on H Bar

In the oddest moment of Worlds 2014, so far, Bretschneider from Germany competed a HUGE new skilldouble twisting Kovacs.

… He thought he did.

But what we saw was a routine with two full twisting Kovacs. The second one is no value and a deduction for repetition. 😦

This is a skill so difficult and scary that his mind defaulted to the “simpler” skill under pressure.

He can do it. Very well.

related – It’s for real this time. Full twisting Kolman. (June 2013)

Longine’s Elegance for men?

Not many of the guys are all that thrilled to be called elegant, despite the prestigious Award.

I was going to vote for Nile Wilson. He’s had some of the cleanest routines, the highest E-scores … in only his 1st World Championships.

But Nile’s been replaced in the AA Competition by Max Whitlock. Only those who compete the AA Final are eligible.

The next guy that jumps to mind (aside from Uchimura who’s already won it twice) is Jake Dalton. But Jake’s not eligible, either.

What about fan favourite Oleg Verniaiev from Ukraine?

I’ll vote just BEFORE the MAG AA Final. Don’t be surprised if Deng Chudi wins. He’s the favourite of the Chinese media.
