Bela gets a shout out as one of the “unsung heroes of 2015”. 🙂
Isabela turned senior in 2014 and she has represented Canada at every single major competition since then …
… she was a rock for her team at the Pan american Games, where she finished 6th in the All Around, qualified into the uneven bars finals andMEN_0689 performed beautiful routines to help her country win a silver medal behind USA.
When it was time for the most crucial competition of the year, Isabela proved herself as one of Canada’s best once again, by hitting four out of four at qualifications and helping her team earn a ticket to Rio. …
With her expressive floor routines, her unusual combinations and her amazing flexibility, she brings style and originality into the Canadian team. She’s a unique gymnast, with a characteristic personal style that makes her stand out in any competition. She is a super star. Nobody can perform a floor routine like she does. She gets out there, she smiles, she makes eye contact with the crowd and she immediately captures everyone’s attention. …
At her most recent competition Bela won the Mexican Open.

Rumour is that Chris Remkes from Australia is training to compete the new skill, as well.

I am proud of USAG. I feel they have come a long way. Girls look happier. And that’s what I go by.
I feel like every four years you watch gymnasts on TV and they look more and more like real people. Less timid, more outgoing, they have more of a voice. They are more of a team.
Now don’t get me wrong, girls will be devastated and go through very rough times as elites, but it comes along with the sport. I think there can be more help for those that feel they have failed but I think that help is right around the corner. …
Vanessa is today Head Coach of the girls’ team at American Kids Sports Center in Bakersfield, California. And the author of this book. 🙂
Vanessa Atler is a retired American elite …
A member of the U.S. national gymnastics team from the age of 12, Atler was one of the United States’ most successful gymnasts as a junior in the late 1990s. Known for her explosive vaults, difficult tumbling skills and likable personality, she won or medaled in several important meets, and was considered to be one of the front-runners for the 2000 Olympics. However, injuries, coaching conflicts, gym changes, mental breakdowns and bulimia symptoms derailed her progress in 1999 and 2000, and after a poor showing at the 2000 Olympic Trials, she was controversially left off the Olympic team despite placing sixth overall. …
