Three more of the seven FIG 5-day Age Group Program Camps on the African continent were completed in the week leading up to Easter. These were held in Congo, Senegal and Mozambique. In the previous two weeks, similar camps were held in Namibia, Nigeria and South Africa. The final African camp begins in Zimbabwe on April 2.

Each of these countries is basically at the beginner level of high-performance gymnastics, but each has in the past had times of gymnastics success that they are now hoping to re-create. …

FIG – Three African Age Group Program Camps finish on Easter Weekend

Guy Lavoie was in Congo. Director of FIG Education & Academy Programs, Hardy Fink, was in Mozambique. And I was in Senegal.

A highlight of my courses in Africa was the Tumbl Trak Air Floor I brought with me as luggage. Inflatable equipment is ideal for hot, humid climates. Air mats are easy to clean and easy to securely store.

Tumbl Trak generously donated that to Senegal, end of course.

I was surprised and impressed how believable the actor was playing Burt Vickerman in the film Stick It. He observed and videotaped coaches, including John Geddert, to prepare for the role.

… But I’ve never heard a coach use the phrase “… pop the clutch …”. I ASSuME he means that she’s going too hard. But it makes very little sense to me.

Sadly, that kind of freedom will not likely be long lived.

But Afghanistan must solve their own problems. Clearly occupiers Great Britain, the Soviet Union and the USA were all ineffective in making much improvement.
