McKayla Maroney is all in

all in, all gym!

… I just want people to know – I’m not making a comeback, I never left! I had to deal with a few serious injuries after the Olympics but I knew the whole time I wasn’t done.

My dad always says “Do it with passion or not at all.” …

Epic Zonderland

What would a major Men’s Gymnastics competition be without Epke?

He’s as crazy legged as ever. And even higher flying.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

15.433 = D score : 7.10, E score : 8.333

Yep. You’ll see that or more in the Final.

Looks like Epke will not qualify for the P Bar final.

Canadian Vault, eh?

This is Grace Chiu’s 15th “Artistic gymnastics world championships with some sort of camera in hand”.

Kohei 91.924

A day at the office for the greatest gymnast that ever lived.

Kohei-Uchimura-

As we often say, two full falls ahead of the best of the rest. … Maybe only 1 fall ahead of Sam Mikulak 89.532.

After 3 of 4 subdivisions:

1. Uchimura–JPN–91.924
2. Mikulak–USA–89.532
3. Lin–CHN–89.43
4. Zhou–CHN–88.898
5. Sasaki–BRA–88.699
6. Hambuechen–GER–88.064
7. Purvis–GBR–87.031
8. Hegi–SUI–86.998
9. Whitlock–GBR–86.941
10. Calvo Moreno–COL–86.939

Sasaki surprised me. Calvo Moreno even more!

UCHIMURA in control

Those hoping that #WChAntwerp might be the Worlds where SOMEBODY would beat Kohei, are likely to be disappointed.

He’s looking healthy and focused. Might even qualify for as many apparatus finals as any time in the past.

Click PLAY or watch his P Bars on YouTube.

He’s competed 4 of 6 apparatus as I post.

Kenzo SHIRAI – Quad twist dismount

… Kenzo Shirai (JPN), qualifications, Floor : 16.233 (D score : 7.40, E score : 8.833). Just fantastic ! …

As expected, he’s leading in prelims by a mile.

Hambuchen – H Bar

AA (so far) at #WChAntwerp:

Mikulak 89.532, Shixiong 88.888, Sasaki 88.699, Hambuchen 88.064, Whitlock 86.941.

Fabian and Max had major errors I expect they’ll correct in the AA Final.

That’s his “easy” routine, omitting the Jaeger 1/1.

Still, he’s leading on that apparatus half way through qualifying.

Kevin Lytwyn – Rings

#WChAntwerp

Kevin was Canada’s Olympic alternate for London.

He’s a big talent with world class routines on several apparatus. Kevin will one of mainstays on the rebuilding Team for Rio. Especially since Rings is one of Canada’s two weak apparatus.

Jackson Paine — and his excellent Pommels — should be back on the Team this quadrennial.

Denis ABLIAZIN – Vault

One of the few highlights for the Russian guys so far at #WChAntwerp.

Click PLAY or watch his Tsuk double pike on YouTube.

1st vault : 14.100 (D score : 6.00, E score : 8.10), 2nd vault : 15.250 (D score : 6.00, E score : 9.10).
