Grace is going to Nebraska.

Nebraska is one of the big winners at JO Nationals this year, with several new recruits emerging or confirming their statuses as potential impact gymnasts. …. Don’t expect a post-Wong, post-Super Six slump for Nebraska in 2015. This is a goo-ood class that should continue bolstering the team’s depth. …

Tina Tumbles

Children’s book by Danielle Soucy Mills.

Tina Tumbles is a delightful story which inspires confidence, focus, and perseverance. After watching gymnasts flip across the T.V. screen, Tina wants to do nothing but gymnastics at all hours of the day.

But Tina learns that even a cartwheel is not as easy as it looks. She just can’t land on her feet. Now it’s time for her first gymnastics lesson. Will Tina gain the confidence she needs to complete the skill without falling?

Louis Smith to Commonwealths?

That would be the best “solution” to the media stink kicked up by Mr. Louis Smith.

I’d love to see him there.

Louis on Louis

Eddie Van Hoof, Team GB’s men’s artistic head coach, said that although he had been “full of admiration” for Smith since his return, his silver-medal winning pommel horse routine from London 2012 had since been bettered by others in the squad.

“I am full of admiration for Louis’s performances on his comeback, but the rest of the squad have moved on,” said Van Hoof. “We have two-world class performers on the pommel horse in Max Whitlock and Daniel Keating and both have higher start values and potential podium returns than even Louis. …

But Van Hoof insisted that Smith, Britain’s most successful male gymnast in the modern era, was still under consideration for the English team at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow despite his Twitter outburst, insisting: “The door is still open for Louis.” …

Great Britain selectors dismiss Louis Smith claims over omission

Update:

I said “Nobody in Gymnastics aside from Louis thinks Louis should be on the GBR Europeans and Worlds Teams 2014.” Seems I’m wrong.

Luke Carson, Theo Seager, Louis himself and others have been posting comments on the Facebook Full Twist Gymnastics page:

Louis makes two main points:

– for Team, if he hits Pommels, his contribution could be significant.

– if on the GBR team, they’d have 3 potential Pommel medalists, not two. Funding is based on medals.

Lucas Carson was disappointed how the announcement was made. He says Louis and his coach were not personally informed in advance.

related – Luke has withdrawn from Europeans.

European Championships previews

Couch Gymnast has a series on the top WAG teams.

For example, Italy.

Giuly Holzer:

“We know it is possible.”

This is what Enrico Casella said of his Italian gymnasts when talking about earning a team medal in Sofia at the European Championships.

The Italian National coach has high expectations for his gymnasts going into the meet …

TCG: You set a series of goals for your gymnasts this year, including particular skills, the use of grips, and more releases on bars. Have the girls been successful in working toward these aims?

EC: YES for use of grips and for particular skills on floor and vault, but not yet for more releases on bars. …

TCG: How is Vanessa Ferrari’s health? And what are her aims for these European Championships?

EC: She is in good health and she will fight for three medals.

TCG: Can we expect to see any upgrades from Vanessa?

EC: You can …….[but of course he wouldn’t say!] …
