Interview with Vanessa Atler

Like most everyone else, I was a huge fan of Vanessa in the late 1990s. And was disappointed that she did not make the 2000 Olympics for USA.

Vanessa:

Looking back, I’m glad I did not make it. I believe with the frame of mind I was in, I probably would have gotten hurt or done terrible. But don’t get me wrong, to not be able to say I’m an Olympian still hurts me everyday. If the trials were in 1999, then yes I should have gone. But oh what a difference a year makes.

Triple Twist – Moving Forward- An Interview with Vanessa Atler

An excellent catch-up with the first American gymnast to compete Rudi on Vault.

Today Vanessa is a coach, a Mom … and an aspiring children’s book author. 🙂

Give it up for the Fierce Five

Here’s a tribute that I’ll forward to Kyla, Jordyn, Alexandra, Gabrielle and Mckayla via Twitter.

An original song by Petter Skoglund.

Lyrics:

(Speaker)
[Ladies and gentlemen let me present to you: Kyla, Jordyn, Alexandra, Gabrielle and Mckayla – also known as the Fierce Five]

(Verse)
Flic-flac on the beam, the best I’ve ever seen
And the score, top 4, 1st place for the team
And Wiebers’ on floor, now give the crowd some more
Double pike, triple spike, and a piruette of four

Mckayla on vault, now stick that 2 and a half,
put her skills to the test, this is what she does best
and scores up top, but she’s still not impressed,
no one knows what is going on inside her head.

Ask the champion, where did she come from?
Gabby douglas from Virginia, who was she back then?
With the air time she has on the uneven bars,
Sometimes i’m afraid she’ll never land again

The american team, living their dream,
Going hard, what a sight, they are the fierce five
Now’s the time bring your family, neighbours and friends,
this is what we’ve been waiting for, sing it with me

(Chorus)
Here comes the fierce five, you’ve seen them before
they might be small and short, but fear them
Give it up for the fierce five!

(Speaker)
[Ladies and gentlemen,
Jordyn Wieber has just finished her floor excersice,
with the amazing execution score of 9.1, making it a total of 16.2.
This puts the american team on the top,
and one step closer to winning the gold!

Next up is Alexandra raisman on floor,
and then kyla ross on beam,
oh ain’t this is so exciting]

(Verse 2)
[oh] Aly raisman, a tumblers dream
her first pass is making the audience scream
one would think that she stops after twist double front
but she keeps going on with a handspring to jump

Where’s Kyla? on the beam of course!
Doing combo after combo, earning bonus points,
you have seen what we’ve seen, she’s the queen of the beam
not a wobble she’s doing it perfectly clean

Now gather the team, we aim for a dream,
in rio de janerio 2016,
showing off what we do it’s the best you’ve seen
and I would love to see mckayla add the dougie to her floor routine

(Chorus)
Here comes the fierce five, you’ve seen them before
they might be small and short, but fear them
Give it up for the fierce five!

(Speaker)
[The score is showing on the board,
The fierce five have done it again,
Congratulasions to the american gymnastics team
you are watching channel pmspk
this is pms speaking
thank you for watching]
the fierce five have done it once again

Thanks Hayley.

Onewheel electric skateboard

The future belongs to the Onewheel—a one-wheeled electric skateboard that’s self-balancing and battery-powered.

The rider leans forward to accelerate, back to slow down, and side-to-side to turn. The skateboard can reach speeds up to 12 mph, and has a range of up to six miles. And if you invest in the “ultra charger,” you can charge the Onewheel in less than 30 minutes. (The standard charger takes about two hours.)

… The company estimates the product will ship this December.

Pre-order for $1,499 (includes ultra charger)
