coach in Iceland

Yet another full-time job has opened up in Iceland.

We are seeking coaches for our TeamGym teams and also for our younger groups in artistic gymnastics, boys and girls. A season contract available (1.9.2014-1.6.2015) with the option of a longer stay. …

… located in the town of Keflavik, just 15 minutes drive from Keflavik international airport and about 30 minutes drive from the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik.

We offer a fair salary and a private apartment close to the gym …

A Trampoline Sports coach could coach TeamGym. I think. 🙂

Thanks Rebecca.

England, England

FIG posted perhaps the best summary article on the Commonwealth Team Championships I’ve yet seen.

Led by top All-around qualifiers Max Whitlock and Claudia Fragapane, England’s Men’s and Women’s teams each captured gold in an often dramatic team final at the Commonwealth Games Tuesday in Glasgow …

Whitlock

It was a historic day for Scottish gymnastics, as the Scottish men’s team — Adam Cox, Liam Davie, Frank Baines, Daniel Purvis and Daniel Keatings — won Scotland’s first-ever team medal in gymnastics, tallying 257.603 to finish with silver.

Wales won an equally historic Bronze in the team event.

“We didn’t expect to win a medal,” Theaker said. “Our legs were shaking and we were crying when we found out that we had got a medal.” …

Canadian National Teams

Update – That document seems to have been removed by Gymnastics Canada. Leave a comment if you know it’s posted somewhere else.

Sabrina Gill, one of my favourite Canadian gymnasts ever, is back with Manjak at his new club.

Sam Oldham injured

Gymnastics is a dangerous sport.

Many gymnasts who qualified for Commonwealth Games were too injured to compete. When I heard Sam had been injured, I assumed it was on Vault landing.

Correct.

We have more major injuries on Vault landing than anywhere else. FIG needs research that landing mat. What does the FIG Sports Medicine Commission do, by the way? We never hear of anything they are working on.

The Gymternet

It was a terrible team meet for Canada, but the Canucks were not at all the only team to suffer.

Ryan details what happened Day 2 on his site Let’s Talk Gym.

Claudia Fragapane is the star of the meet so far.

Claudia

Should be a good show down between Claudia and Ellie Black in the AA final.

England, Australia, Wales

Canada 4th.

Australia and Wales will be happy with those medals. Congratulations. That’s a 1st Team medal ever for the Welsh.
