The Executive Committee decided on a new proposal with regard to the qualification procedure for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which will be presented to the Council in Melbourne (AUS) in May.
The new proposal, which will be compared to the decision taken at the Council in Kuwait in 2014, includes a reduction in the number of team members in Artistic Gymnastics in the aim of providing additional qualification opportunities for event specialists and All-around gymnasts via Continental Championships, World Cups and World Challenge Cups.
A common coaching error is to emulate the best of the best. Just because it works for Maroney, doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you.
I don’t recommend wide arms with the hands out-turned for young, developing gymnasts. Stick with the most popular, traditional arm position (e.g. Cheng Fei) unless you have a very good reason not to.
My aim with this challenge was to inspire as many people as possible to do something they love every day, along with generating interest in gymnastics. I believe that It’s more than a sport–it’s an art form. Flipping and twisting is my happiness …
UCLA hit 23 of 24 routines for 9.8 or better, including its first 16 routines. The Bruins also hit all three exhibition routines …
“I was really pleased with the fact that we have continued on the same path as we have in the last four weeks and that we keep getting better,” said UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field. “They’re working very determined in the gym and coming out and reaping the rewards of all their hard work. Even though we were resting some key people in certain events, to be able to do that and hit 23 of 24 – and actually, 26 of 27 routines – and to have our highest score of the season on the road was great. That was the plan – to be able to increase our RQS and, more importantly than that, to compete how we’ve been training.” …

Quite a bit of depth. I’m looking forward to seeing who ends up competing for Canada at Worlds 2015.
We’re hoping Heaven Latimer continues her comeback. She’s not competed the AA for some time.
