In the youngest division, Shallon Olsen ( 59.10) was nearly 5 points ahead of the #2 Novice! … That’s day 1 of a two day combined competition.

And I grinned wide to see who is leading in the Senior competition … Christine (Peng Peng) Lee. She scored only 54.800, though. I hear there were many falls on Bars.

On IG forum, verodesja posted some commentary from the meet:

Shallon Olsen is way over the rest of the girls! Her floor is amazing and so difficult! She has a full in pike, whip-flic to double back, triple twist and I’m not sure about the last pass but it’s a C. …

… great return for Peng Peng, except a fall on beam on her barani. Great yurchenko full on vault and a good bars routine. …

Talia (Chiarelli) is SO much like Alicia and Aly Raisman, they seem like triplets in their gymnastics. …

… On floor, I only noticed Mikaila Gerber‘s routine. She has so much expression compare to the other girls! And she also had beautiful tumbling …

The Juniors have not competed yet.

His Men’s competition goes this weekend, Dec. 10-12th.

Artemev, Offord, Brooks, Kuksenkov, Bilozertchev, Elkind, Leyva, … a strong field (including some winter escapees from PEI).

Charlie Tamayo might be there.

Check that landing mat. This is what we need for Vault. Longer, wider, landing area more clearly marked. Safer.

Jiang Yuyuan, Yang Yilin and He Kexin were interviewed after Asian Games.

A transcript in English is posted on Yang Yilin Online. Fun and lighthearted.

Jiang Yuyuan talks about her role as team captain, succeeding Cheng Fei and, before her, Zhang Nan. … What does she want to do after retirement:

… Go to school. Then open a dessert shop!

He Kexin admits she might like to become a singer.

Yang Yilin talks about being so tall on a team of shorties. That she might like to become a photographer, one day. Or a news anchor.

Some of the girls (still in National Team tracksuits) bought hot dogs at Worlds in Rotterdam. I’m still kicking myself for not snapping a few paparazzi photos at the time.

I’ve heard exactly nothing (so far) from the Canadian women’s gymnastics competition in Quebec.

Grace Chiu just now posted some photos on Facebook.

Seems that stupid chicken found his way there.

I saw the bad news on gymnicetic. An ex-gymnast fell while using spring-powered stilts.

A live TV game show in Dusseldorf, Germany was halted on Saturday mid-broadcast after a contestant was severely injured in a stunt.

Samuel Koch was hurt when he tried to jump over a moving car driven by his father on Wetten, Dass? (Wanna Bet?).

Canadian singer Justin Bieber was due to appear on the show after the stunt. …

Robbie Williams and Phil Collins had also been due to appear on the show, according to its website.

‘Critical stage’

Koch, 23, underwent surgery on Sunday after he suffered multiple back injuries and fractures the previous night.

Dr Wolfgang Raab of Dusseldorf Hospital told German news agency DPAD that Koch was “in an extremely critical stage”. …

Wetten, Dass? has been running for nearly 30 years and regularly draws audiences of about 10 million.

BBC

In the age of YouTube and Jackass movies, this won’t be the last spectacular public crash.

A post on CBS News asks if reality TV shows have gotten too dangerous.
