Steph Davis – extreme psychology

Steph Davis is an American rock climber, BASE jumper and wingsuit flyer. …

A new video is getting wide circulation. Another insane wingsuit edit, unique to this one is how calm Steph is when her parachute tangles. No wonder she was able to free climb El Capitan.

How does this woman control her emotions so easily?

Can it be trained? … Or was she born this way?

She divorced Dean Potter, incidentally.

Her goal was top 10.

Competing for the first time in more than two years, 17-year-old Peng Peng Lee of Toronto stepped back into the limelight as one of Canada’s most promising young gymnasts with a remarkable victory in the women’s all around event at the Elite Canada meet on December 10, 2010 in Gatineau, Quebec

NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Preview

Jerry Wright predicts Oklahoma will win comfortably in 2011.

Stanford and Michigan, both ranked higher in the coach’s preseason poll, beg to differ.

He’s naming Chris Cameron and Steven Legendre as early favourites to win the Nissen-Emery.

I’ve never had any success predicting Men’s College gymnastics, even when sitting in the stands at Championships. But Jerry successfully predicted Michigan, Stanford 1-2 last year. We should listen to him.

Read his detailed preview on CollegeGymnastics.org (PDF).

I’m expecting Iowa under new Head Coach J.D. Reive to surprise people.

This will be the last season for Cal Berkeley … unless somebody comes up with a lot of money fast, a donation of perhaps $100 million in the next few months might save all the canceled sports.

UC Berkeley Intercollegiate Athletics FAQ (PDF)

That’s not impossible. Phil Knight, Nike founder, is “believed to have contributed approximately $230 million to the University of Oregon, the majority of which was for athletics”.

Thanks Ono.

gymnastics scoring app

A gym Dad / software engineer was inspired to write an app to calculate scores in the bleachers quickly and easily. And send them out instantly to Facebook or anywhere else.

Great idea.

It’s only available for Android phones, for now. Search for TumbleTally in the Android market. $4.99

# Fast meet scoring and awards entry for women’s and men’s events.

# On the fly All Around calculations for each gymnast.

# Reports for meet results by gymnast, or for the whole team.

# Send meet results to your friends and family via email!

# Results can also be sent as a JPG image, so wherever your Android device can send an image, so can TumbleTally — places like Facebook, Flickr, Picassa, etc.
