In 2012 we still don’t have many female gymnasts training 2 Vaults for Finals. That surprises me.
THE ALL AROUND has the most detailed analysis on Cottbus:
In the battle for the Netherland’s Olympic nomination, Epke Zonderland made a statement by scoring 15.025/6.0 on parallel bars and 15.000/6.7 on high bar, thereby qualifying for both finals; his score also meant he had met the readiness mark set by the Dutch NOC. Meanwhile, challenger Jeffrey Wammes averaged 15.837 on vault to reach that final, but failed to do so on floor (14.025/6.1) or high bar (14.800/6.3).
… Greece’s Vasiliki Millousi continues to establish herself as a possible balance beam finalist in London, leading the field today with a 14.300/8.3. ..

In the beginning of the season, it’s cute to watch the kids work their way through the compulsories. There’s drama: Will she make her kip? Will she forget the floor routine? Will she accidentally start doing the Level 4 instead of the Level 5 beam routine? Will she make it over the table, although she failed in every warm-up attempt? …

Having attended Chinese Championships in 2011, I can confirm there are dozens of excellent Bar routines there. All using the same difficulty parts: elgrip giants, elgrip Endo, Jaeger … that’s about it.
Yet here’s a fantastically exciting and varied routine.
