Vegas, baby.
Despite ongoing stereotypes, the slovenly curler is the exception now, not the rule. Many of today’s top curlers are as fit as figure skaters — Russian skip Anna Sidorova, in fact, is a former figure skater. …

Olympic gold medalist and four-time World champion Kohei Uchimura (JPN) is one of the most “rhythmical” gymnasts music professor Lasse Nettum has ever seen. In order to demonstrate what happens when a piece of music corresponds well with a gymnast’s natural movement, Nettum composed this original piece to accompany Uchimura’s horizontal bar routine from the 2011 World Championships. The video was presented as part of an artistry and music workshop at the Artistic World Championships in Antwerp (BEL) last fall.

The Temple University Board of Trustees recently announced that they will eliminate seven athletic programs as of July 1st, 2014. These teams are Women’s Softball, Men’s Baseball, Men’s Crew, Women’s Rowing, Men‘s Gymnastics, and Men’s Track and Field. These sports are historic to Temple University. While we want to see all of the sports stay our main goal is to save our beloved program.
They have produced professional athletes, U.S national team members and Olympians to go forth and be successful, while not only representing Temple University, but also the United States and now all of that is being taken away.
The Board and University Administration are blaming the Title IX Amendment for equality in funding for men and women, lack of funding and to run leaner so the surviving sports can grow. Raising this money will force them to really answer for why they are cutting these sports.
If this effort does not succeed in reinstating the Temple Men’s Gymnastics Program, then the money raised will be endowed to the protection and possible creation of other Division 1 teams around the country.
