Larisa Iordache – Bars

I’m impressed. 14.750. 🙂

Best Romanian Bars in a fair while.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

Larisa Iordache won three out of four gold medals in the event finals at Romanian nationals: on vault, bars and floor. It was an all in all similar showing, compared to the previous day, for the Romanian leader. In the event finals hit vault, bars and floor but had a fall on beam. …

Keeping in mind that Larisa was presenting increased difficulty on 3 out of 4 events, this meet’s performances can be considered a very promising beginning. …

Score looks low to me. On the other hand, perhaps the judges were as tough on everyone. No scores above 14.0.

Cuban Ernesto Vila defects

The Cuban gymnast who competed at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010 defected in Canada.

YOG Floor 2010
YOG Floor 2010

He’s not the first to do so.

Ernesto Vila told his father, who lives in Spain, of his plan to defect.

It sounds like he’s already in the States.

Cuba has one of the great gymnastics traditions in the world, but rarely competes internationally. They did not register for Worlds 2014, for example.

Finances is the claim. Fear of defection must be a factor, as well.
