Oregon Olympic Athletics is Bend, Oregon’s newest youth gymnastics facility. It’s owned by Mohini Bhardwaj who was the 2004 US Women’s Gymnastics Olympic Team Captain.

The video is about Mohini’s 12 year olympic journey and coaching aspirations with her new gym. There are interviews from her Olympic teammates Courtney Kupets, Courtney McCool, Annia Hatch, and 2004 Olympic All Around Champion Carly Patterson.

Chenglong Zhang – ripped grip

In the Horizontal Bar final at Worlds 2014 Zhang broke one of his grips. Then was allowed to continue well after his 30 seconds was over.

We’ve heard FIG MTC plans to allow gymnasts time to get a new grip in the future. But that rule change was not in effect for 2014.

Has anyone heard any follow up from FIG on this incident?

… Gymnastics Australia is pleased to announce that Vladimir Vatkin and Sergei Chinkar have been appointed to the Coach roles with the MAG NCE in Canberra. Both men are well-known to the Gymnastics communities within Australia and overseas as a result of the successes of their athletes at benchmark events over a number of years.

Gymnastics Australia is very excited that Australia’s NCE athletes will be directed and supported by such well-credentialed coaches and look forward to their technical leadership both within the NCE and across the pathway for MAG nationally. Vladimir and Sergei will take up their new roles at the MAG NCE on 27 January 2015. …

Louis Smith wins another Strictly Come Dancing title

Louis Smith has won his second Strictly Come Dancing title after triumphing in the 2014 Christmas special.

The Olympic gymnastic silver medallist, who won Strictly in 2012, earned his latest success on the night that Sir Bruce Forsyth returned to the show.

Smith and professional partner Aliona Vilani earned a perfect score of 40 points from the judges for their quickstep to Jingle Bells. …
