Ursinus Gymnastics 2015 highlights

Shout out to the ladies of Ursinus in Collegeville, PA. Div III gymnasts get no athletic scholarships. They do it for the love of the sport. 🙂

A look back at our incredible year where we broke nearly every school record in the book, scored the highest team total in Division III history, won the inaugural NCGA East Regional Championships, claimed 9 All-American titles, crowned 5 Academic All-Americans, and finished second in the nation!

Made, as always, with love by senior co-captain Riley Acton. WOAH BEARS!

That was the first medal won by Russia after the breakup of the Soviet Unified Team.

She recently moved to Tel Aviv for medical care, where the experts had hoped for a remission. Natalia had been treated for stomach cancer in Novosibirsk.

rumour – Chinese girl Tsuk 2 1/2

The rumour started here. It would look something like this.

That’s an edit. Starts Tsuk. Finishes with Amanar.

I’ll be very surprised if any female gymnast competes Kas + 1 1/2 or Tsuk 2 1/2 in 2015. It’s an extremely difficult Vault.

The best 1 1/2 I’ve seen this season is Ellie at American Cup.

Underscored, I thought, at 9.066.

Allison Buckley – Counter-Kim

Ono linked to another of these rarely competed Bars skills.

Competed in High School competition 2007. Allison went on to star at University of Illinois.

Isabela

Isabela ONYSHKO is one of the hardest working gymnasts I know. She trains well. In 2015 she’s been very consistent in pressure situations. Canada should be building their Pan-Am and Worlds teams around Ellie and Isabela.

British Coach Nick Ruddock

Arabian Punch Front posted a terrific interview:

Nick Ruddock is a former gymnast that has worked his way from recreational coach to Great Britain’s Women’s Junior National Coach. During his time as head coach, Great Britain won their first junior European medal when they placed 2nd at the 2014 European Championships. Since then, Ruddock has stepped down from that role and is now Head of Performance at South Durham gymnastics, coaching recently crowned British Champion Amy Tinkler and many other elite hopefuls. …

What are the most rewarding and most difficult parts of being a coach?

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that are the most rewarding when coaching. It could be the gymnast overcoming a personal challenge, meeting targets, achieving new skills or hitting a new routine for the first time. The rewarding part isn’t always the big scores and medals, but of course they are great to have on the way too. …

10 Questions with British Coach Nick Ruddock

On that historic Jr European’s Silver, the first team medal ever for GBR, he singled out Teal Grindle’s beam routine in qualification/team final as a highlight.

Click PLAY or watch that Beam routine on YouTube. Watch it through to the dismount. Anchoring the team, she would not be denied the HIT. 🙂

Courtney Tulloch training Rings

Part of the British national gymnastics team, Courtney Tulloch is already a rings specialist at the age of just 19. Seen here in training for the British Championships, Courtney has his sights firmly on the Rio Olympics in 2016.

… Courtney is trained by former international Ionut Trandaburu at the Pegasus Gym Club in Maidstone, Kent.
