professional wrestling acrobatics

The last time I watched any professional wrestling it was Mickey Rourke in the 2008 film The Wrestler.

Seems wrestlers have increasingly been adding gymnastics to their choreography. Forward and back flips. Gainers. One guy throws a gainer full to front drop.

Gym Mom on the J.O. Level system

Jodi Brichta-Coyne has it figured out:

… instead of wondering when she will make it to level 10 (and she may not ever make it and I am OK with that), I am going to sit back and watch her and enjoy the moment.

It is her sport, her journey, and wherever it takes her the lessons learned along the way are much more valuable then striving to get somewhere before it’s time.

Workout Wednesday: Twistars

This workout with Twistars was filmed during the middle of the 2015 season as they prepared for the championship season. Twistars qualified 6 gymnastics to the 2015 JO Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa. Two of Twistars’ level 10s won the AA national titles, Alyssa Al-Ashari (JR A) and Kai Rivers (JR B).

This is the first Gymnastike post I’ve linked to in months. My boycott continues.

But I may make the odd exception to the rule in future. Most often for Workout Wednesday. And especially if it features a very interesting club like Twistars.

Not much depth. Despite the great year Australia had in 2014 I’m not convinced they are in a good position to qualify a full team to Rio. I hope they prove me wrong.
