Manrique Larduet – P Bars

Swings big.

Too much celebration following the routine for this old judge. I’d deduct.

Here are all 6 of his routines from prelims. (VIDEO)

High Bar – 15.050
Floor – 15.150
PH – 13.850
Rings – 15.4
Vault – 15.2 and 14.7 – 14.95 Avg.
Parallel Bars – 15.6

As for the AA, I predict Sam will win. 🙂

From 28 June till 8 July 24 male gymnasts, born between 1999 and 2002, and 25 coaches from 13 National Federations gathered in Tirrenia (ITA) for the annual UEG training camp. …

The experts present at this camp were Olympic Champion Valery Belenki (AZE/GER), Barry Collie (GBR), Diego Lazzarich (ITA), Valentin Potapenko (FRA), Laurent Maertens (FRA) and Rossana Bonzi (ITA). Hard work and lots of fun at the men’s artistic gymnastics training camp!

USA Men win Pan Ams

1. USA 267.750
2. BRAZIL 264.050
3. COLOMBIA 259.300

larduet_manrique_port15Preliminary AA leaders:

1. Manrique Larduet CUB 90.25
2. Sam Mikulak USA 89.850
3. J Calvo Moreno COL 88.750

Cuba did not send a team to Worlds 2014 so they are only allowed to send 3 gymnasts to Worlds 2015. Manrique still could qualify. It would be a shame not to see one of the very best gymnasts in the world compete in Rio.

official results

Pan Ams: USA, Brazil, Colombia

After the first subdivision of Men’s preliminaries:

1. USA 267.750
2. Brazil 264.050
3. Colombia 259.300
4. Canada 258.350
5. Puerto Rico 246.950

Fans were disappointed for Canada. They had a fairly good competition, I thought, after loosing National Champion Jackson Payne to Achilles injury in the training camp before the Games. The hosts competed only 3 guys on Pommels. All 3 hit. Update – Elfi said that all 3 had hit. But Ken Ikeda fell. Unhappily, too, Scott Morgan, former Worlds Floor finalist, missed and will not make the FX final. 😦

AA results (so far)
1. Sam Mikulak 89.850
2. Jossimar Calvo Moreno 88.750
3. Donnell Whittenburg 87.700
(fall on H Bar)

Elfi Schlegel was back doing Gymnastics commentary in her home town. Seems a shame Kyle Shewfelt – a true MAG expert – wasn’t used more on the Canadian TV coverage.

Pan Am Games opening ceremonies

800 artists were included in the Cirque du Soleil production. Quite well done, I thought.

On the Canadian TV coverage announcers tried to explain the artistic vision behind each act. Bewildering to me. I prefer watching Cirque dance and acrobatics without trying to follow the plot. 🙂

Schwaiger and the other tumblers pulled out some great tumbling off Air Floor Pro.
