Fifteen-year-old William Émard of Montreal pulled off an upset at the Canadian gymnastics championships on Friday, winning the men’s all around junior title in convincing fashion.
Competing for the first time as a junior at the Canadian championships, Émard topped the field of 15 competitors with a total score of 122.150 points, far ahead of his closet rival Ryan Oerhlein of Georgetown, Ont., who won the silver medal with a score of 118 points.
Sam Zakutney of Ottawa took the bronze with 117.930.
