From the afternoon session only Stanford will be completely happy with the performance. Don’t be surprised to see the #11 seed reach the top 6. Stanford’s done this before. 🙂

I felt rotten for Michigan. They were great. Truly deserving of a place in the Super 6. But Stanford was magic. I’m not sure I can recall a better Bar rotation at Nationals. 49.575 with 5/6 dismounts stuck, I believe. Oklahoma went 49.500 on Bars. But I’d still call the Cardinal performance significantly better today.
The evening competition was more exciting. And more heart breaking.
LSU had 3 falls on Beam. That’s game over. 😦 What a shame.
Oklahoma – the team that never falls – had 2 falls on Beam. A shocker. But had enough of a lead to get through. I don’t believe the Sooners will fall in the Final. They are certainly the team to beat. Their only weakness is tumbling. Both Alabama and LSU are much better. Brenna Dowell helps for sure. Her double front was the best single tumbling line I saw today.
I love Nebraska. But tonight Auburn was not going to be denied. I enjoyed seeing Nebraska Head Coach Dan Kendig congratulating Jeff Graba, the Auburn coach, on qualifying. Two classy guys doing a great job with their teams.
This was only their 4th appearance at championships.
