USA’s edge – Donnell Whittenburg

Team USA is strong right now. Very strong. Very deep.

They can put a legend like Jon Horton and Worlds 2013 Rings bronze medalist Brandon Wynn on the B-team.

USA is a legit contender for the Team podium in Nanning.

In February, Whittenburg finished second in the all-around at the Winter Cup Challenge. Then, in July, he finished first in the all-around at the U.S. National Qualifier in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Whittenburg, the 2012 U.S. junior national all-around champion, used those two experiences to climb the leader board at this year’s P&G Gymnastics Championships and earn a spot on the 2014 World Gymnastics Championships team.

Whittenburg captured the silver medal in still rings and gold on vault to finish fourth in the all-around, making him the only non-Olympian to finish in the top five. …
