… Key, who finished fourth at the 2012 U.S. Championships, started her competition on the balance beam. Her solid set, including two flip flops to a back layout, a switch ring leap and two flip flops to a triple twist dismount score, scored 15.350 points, tying for the highest beam score of the event. In the second rotation, Key earned the highest floor score of the competition, 14.800 points, opening with an Arabian double front to stag jump and finishing with a double pike. On vault, Key’s double-twisting Yurchenko earned 15.100 points and she finished the competition on uneven bars, where she scored 13.950 points.
Hernandez, the only athlete to earn scores higher than 14.000 points on all four events, is currently in second place. …
