2013 SEA Games Burma

The 27th Southeast Asian Games are scheduled to be held in Naypyidaw, the new capital of Myanmar …

I visited the country in 1998, stopping by the National Team Gymnastics Training Centre. There is no nation whackier than Myanmar … aside from North Korea.

Hillary Clinton just visited. There’s some hope of a warming of relations with the world.

Around 7,000 athletes and 2,500 officials from Southeast Asian countries will participate. A government official vows they will organize better SEA Games than the one just finished in Indonesia.

They don’t seem to have a website yet. That doesn’t look good for organizers. …

Tug-of-War is a sport — really? — expected to be added for those Games.

Today I heard a rumour that Artistic Gymnastics might be dropped. I highly doubt that organizers will be allowed to drop a popular Olympic sport and add Tug-of-War. Best case scenario — the Games will be moved. I have no faith in Myanmar.
