NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Preview

Jerry Wright predicts Oklahoma will win comfortably in 2011.

Stanford and Michigan, both ranked higher in the coach’s preseason poll, beg to differ.

He’s naming Chris Cameron and Steven Legendre as early favourites to win the Nissen-Emery.

I’ve never had any success predicting Men’s College gymnastics, even when sitting in the stands at Championships. But Jerry successfully predicted Michigan, Stanford 1-2 last year. We should listen to him.

I’m expecting Iowa under new Head Coach J.D. Reive to surprise people.

This will be the last season for Cal Berkeley … unless somebody comes up with a lot of money fast, a donation of perhaps $100 million in the next few months might save all the canceled sports.

That’s not impossible. Phil Knight, Nike founder, is “believed to have contributed approximately $230 million to the University of Oregon, the majority of which was for athletics”.
