first look – Gymnastics Canada site

While not nearly as good as the new Gymnastics Australia website, I’m satisfied with the new Gymnastics Canada site. Most new sites are buggy. This one is not.

On my first browse through the top pages, I found they all work.

The site is readable. And clean.

It has a LOT of content though not much new.

There are no social networking features. No videos. Few photos. No reason to visit on a regular basis. (Quite a few videos, actually.)

But if you are only looking for basic information, it’s there.

The search box is not powerful, unfortunately. It won’t find the acronym CS4L, for example, though it’s prominent on the LINK page.

Best feature for me could be the blog. (Though you won’t find it by searching for “blog”.) It was set up for the Beijing Olympics and has not been updated since August, 2008. It could easily be repurposed as a Gymnastics Canada blog.

Good luck finding the Classified Ads. Though they cost $25/month, there’s no way to find them from the home page.

There’s no RSS feed for the Featured News page. That’s my biggest complaint.

Gymnastics Canada – English

UPDATE: giRafe notes that the French side of the site is much inferior to the English. Let’s see if it improves over the coming weeks. Gymnastics Canada historically has had a strong commitment to both official languages.
