I was a guest coach at Funtastics Staff Workshop well organized by Lisa R. Adlard. She started the meeting by distributing an employee handbook and other administrivia paperwork.
Lisa then emphasized the Mission Statement for the club and introduced a theme for 2008:
HAPPINESS + KNOWLEDGE + DISCIPLINE = ACHIEVEMENT
FUNtastics is very big on FUN. In fact they demand a FUN work place.
The staff workshop was a 4hr session, paid, and they had a good turn-out of all employees both full-time and part-time.
Program Directors took a few minutes each introducing themselves and laying out the big picture for the coming season.
Head Coach Dave Adlard did a detailed exercise designed to reveal personal strengths and weaknesses of each coach through self-evaluation. It was quite fun and a lively conversation starter. I found the results in my own case to be surprisingly accurate.
The day finished with short spotting/technical clinics appropriate for all coaches in all coaching departments.
