Joura wins Friendship Classic

Here’s a newspaper report from a big competition in Pottsville, Pennsylvania:

The 17-year-old from Perth, Australia, with an all-around score of 58.3, won the best all-around performance and took first place in the Senior Elite division in the World Class competition Saturday at the 10th annual Friendship Classic. …

“Tonight, I did worse than I’d like to in some areas, and better than what I expected in others,” said Joura, sizing up her performance for the evening. “It was a fun meet, a good atmosphere.” …

Joura’s coach, Martine George, said Joura and her teammate, Lauren Mitchell, who placed second overall in the Senior Elite event with an all-around score of 58, will go onto a training camp for Olympic hopefuls. …
