Is it too soon to speculate?
When Olympic Champion Kohei Uchimura was asked, he didn’t name the younger Tanaka brother, he named Ryohei Kato.
Ryohei: In London, I had promised myself to defeat Kohei Uchimura one day. As for the team competitions, I will work hard with the team to get the gold medal for Japan be it in the World Championships or the Olympics.
Host: What do you think about Kato saying that he wants to defeat you one day?
Kohei: In 4 years time, I think he will be the strongest competitor. If possible, I would like for us to compete for the same gold medal on the same stage. …
Ryohei is the son of Hiroyuki Kato, the Japanese Olympic coach in London.
Ryohei turns age-19 today.

Or Shogo Nonomura, or the choice of 10,000,000 screaming girls accross the USA, Sam Mikulak.
I’m still pulling for Jon Orozco…
Funny note on Hiroyuki Kato – 1/1 twisting DB dismount on PB is named after him, which Marcel Nyguen does. The most difficult dismount in the code for PBs.
ngl I hope kohei stays on top until 2016. I want him to match sawao kato’s record
Don’t forget the Brits! Sam Oldham, Max Whitlock, Frank Baines and maybe even Dan Keatings will be right up there fighting for those medals.
I would keep an eye on David Beliavskiy and John Orozco, love the clean stylish working type of gymnast
Or Danell Leyva, assuming he can stay away from showbiz.
I’m sure there are a few Ukranians who would like to kick Uchimura’s butt and might be capable of it by 2016. Stepko, Verniaiev…
Or Jon Horton. One can always hope.
Daniel Keatings posted on Twitter that he wants to win the AA title in Rio. I’m surprised Keating’s even aiming for Rio, considering his back was stabbed when the British team was selected for London.
